The position

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKESK) is a non-profit service company, registered under the Companies Act.  It operates 11 schools in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both the national and international curricula. 

It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.

AKESK is looking to hire the following positions based in Nairobi:

Academic Data Analyst

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Academics, the Academic Data Analyst will design processes and systems for gathering, recording, analyzing and reporting student academic performance data across all Aga Khan Education Service Kenya and present insights in actionable ways that that will enable reviews and recommendations to be made.  As directed by the Head of Academics, the Academic Data Analyst will create high quality professional and easily-to-understand reports and be able to modify the same to a specific audience as required.  S/he will also support in the maintenance, validation and cleaning of data housed within AKESK’s student information system.

The role will also have the responsibility of supporting the development of best practice for various analytics, while maintaining data integrity, security and quality reporting as required from time to time.

The requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (science, business, mathematics or statistics).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced, data/systems analytics role
  • Excellence in communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the role’s stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, goal-focused and a team player
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances and evolving requests
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation, with confidence to bring forward ideas and new approaches
